Christmas Break

It has been so good these last days to be pressure free in terms of outside commitments. Grades have been turned in; we had our very busy food distribution on Thursday, and Friday, dear daughter had some sweet guests over for a Christmas/birthday get-together. The Justus men went out for pizza and a tour through Wal-Mart.
Saturday morning, I slept in REALLY late. Michael was up working on his sermon for Sunday morning, enjoying the quiet.
The house is close to being really cleaned up. Our room and the boys' room remains in their usual chaos. I love the picture above because it looks much like our house--the paintings and books especially.

Yellow and Blue Happiness

Happiness is completing a project--particularly for someone of whom we think so highly!
This is for a colleague's wife who has been through some health trials this past year. She loves and serves the Lord as does her husband.
My daughter and I made a joint project out of this--I did the granny square itself, and she made the flowers. Didn't she do a wonderful job?
We used Hobby Lobby "I Love This Yarn"--I really do LOVE that yarn; it's acrylic and is actually quite soft. It works up well and washes very easily.

Here's how it looked before we attached the flowers.

The Best Teaching Tools

As I write this, I am attending a massive conference of college/university educators. Everyone speaks and thinks with a particular education-ese that boggles the mind. Peeling away layer after layer of this nomenclature, what rests at the bottom is a whole lot of nothing.  Everyone is diligently searching for better methods of teaching and learning, much like the Ancient Greeks with philosophy. But like the Greeks, they create chaos in their search for order.
Give me my books, a chalk board and a box of chalk, and I can teach. The students can learn.
We are blessedly allowed to have the Bible as our foundation--God's Holy Word provides the order, clarity and TRUTH educators seek and students need.
